Puana for business

Background music for business, chosen by the room.

Background music for a business should be chosen by the room and the hour, not by whoever holds the phone. Puana plays original music for cafés, restaurants, shops, salons, gyms and offices, switches on a schedule you set once, and runs from open to close. Hear any room below. Businesses subscribe from $19 a month per location.

Why the room decides

The two studies that started this field were done in real rooms. In a supermarket, Ronald Milliman found that slower music slowed shoppers down and went with higher sales than faster music. In a restaurant, slower music kept diners at the table longer and raised what they spent at the bar.

Neither says one kind of music is right. They say music changes how a room behaves — so the right music depends on the room, and on the hour. That is the whole idea behind a station per room and a schedule per location.

Questions business owners ask

What is the best background music for a business?

The music that suits the room at that hour. A café's first hour, a restaurant's dinner service and a gym's evening rush want different things — which is why each room above has its own station, and why Puana changes the music on a schedule instead of playing one playlist all day.

How much does background music for a business cost?

With Puana, $19 a month per location, or $190 a year. The first 14 days are free: a card is taken at signup and charged on day 14 unless you cancel, which takes two clicks in settings. Every location after the first is 5% cheaper, up to 25% off.

Can each location play something different?

Yes. Each location has its own schedule, so a café and a bar on one account can each run their own day.

What do I need to play it?

An iPhone, an iPad or any web browser, connected to the speakers you already have. Up to three devices on the same Wi-Fi can play in sync, and an explicit-lyrics filter is one switch.

Can I hear it before I pay?

Yes. Every station on this page plays here, free, without an account. The 14-day trial is for running it in your space, with the schedule and your devices in sync.
